The cooking demonstrations left plenty of time for exploring and hiking. Yosemite Valley in the winter, tho cold, is really special. Hiking to Vernal Falls in the summer would have been joining the freeway-like pathway of people to the top.

We did encounter a few other people up to this point in our hike - the base of Vernal Falls. Karin wanted to stop here and have lunch - hoping that with a full stomach - Ted would be motivated to maybe meander back to the hotel for a late afternoon nap. Not. The sun was shining up on the top of Vernal Falls and Karin was convinced to continue on...
