RARE REDLINES!
|
|
This page features full production Redlines which are unusually rare for one reason or another, such as short production runs, cars only available in a set, sales promotionals or mixing of parts between two common variations.
Transitional Redlines
A Transitional piece is one which results from mixing of parts between two relatively common variations. Some early redlines are considered transitional, such as the ribbed window Custom Mustang and in 1977 when redline wheels were abandoned, a number of castings crossed the transition. Most cars produced during this year were fitted with the new "basic wheels" or "blackwalls". However, during the transition, several of the castings were also issued with redlines. The production number on some of the "transitional redlines" are very low, while others are quite common. As such, a few of the transitional redlines are very difficult to find. I have included a complete listing of the Transititional Redlines in the INFO section.
Short Run Redlines
Short runs occurred for any number of reasons most of which are lost to history. One common reason is that the car was part of a set such as the Skyshows. I have included a listing of the Set Car Redlines in my INFO section.
Promotional Redlines
The most common of the promos are the 1973 Shell Oil Company enamels. However, a few other castings were issued with special tampos for promotional purposes. I have included a complete listing of the Promotional Redlines in my INFO section.
