* CIPSA Redline News!! *
********* SPECIAL NOTICE *********
For those who may not have heard, I had a group of 21 cars stolen out of my room at the Hot Wheels Convention in October.
In that group were three of my prized CIPSA cars: Sandwitch, Jet Threat and Hiway Robber.
November 26, 2008
Another Hairy Hauler in orange has been found. Fernando, in Mexico sent me the photo.
It is the only CIPSA he has found so far.

November 23, 2008
Rodrigo scores again. The man never stops! This time a pink Whip Creamer.

October 11, 2008
Just back from LA nad Rodrigo comes up with the goods again.
A gorgeous purple Mongoose.

and a blue Peeping Bomb!

October 4-8, 2008
Hot Wheels Convention 2008, LA California
Rodrigo y Verenice attended the convention. We spent quite a bit of time together talking CIPSA and
having a good time. No tequila for me, we brought the homemade wine for Rodrigo and Verenice.
Rodrigo's CIPSA Collection

We traded a couple of CIPSA's at the end of the Convention.
I am two castings closer to a complete collection.

September 5-7, 2008
Mexican Hot Wheels Exhibition
I flew to Distrito Federal for the first mexican HW Exhibition, meeting my good friend Don there.

We met with Rodrigo and Verenice on Friday night for a few hours out on the town.

At the event dinner on Saturday, I got to see a few CIPSAs owned by members of the Mexican Club.

These are Angel's collection.

My favorite is the chrome Ferrari.

I saw these two on Sunday at the exhibition.

And I met Alfonso from whom I bought the CIPSA Superfine Turbine Blisterpack.

July 25, 2008
More Rodrigo finds, a beautiful yellow Sandwitch.

July 1, 2008
Rodrigo finds a few more.

May 26, 2008
Rodrigo found this beautiful yellow MBZ with the typical Sandwitch interior.
May 14, 2008
This green Cockney Cab sold on eBay. The Cockney Cab is the most common CIPSA casting with
a total of 18 pieces known to exist.

May 12, 2008
Rodrigo de Orduna is amazing me with his new CIPSA discoveries!

The Mod Quad is the first known example of this casting! Bravo!

Another blue Cord

And a yellow Peeping Bomb, like the one I own.
April 29, 2008
Carlos Manzanilla and I attended the Hot Wheels Convention in Chicago. I was invited to participate in an
event featuring Hot Wheels of foreign manufacture. I brought Carlos as my guest and we displayed our CIPSA cars together.

Carlos sold a few peices but I think most of them returned to Mexico with him.
We made a nice trade. I traded a Peeping Bomb for a Swingin' Wing.

I now have 22 different castings. I need 6 more castings to complete a set:
* Porsche 917
* Ferrari 312P
* Pit Crew Car
* Mod Quad
* McLaren M6A
* Sidekick
April 17, 2008
Rodrigo de Orduna sent me these photos of CIPSA pieces he has found to enhance his collection.
Some very nice pieces here. He must search very well! Congratulation Rod!

The Bugeye is a new color if it is CIPSA.
April 9, 2008
Carlos Manzanilla sent me these photos of 20 CIPSA's he is bringing to the Nationals in Chicago.
Many of them are in very poor condition but the others are very nice.
I am excited to see them in person. I want a Swinging Wing to add to my collection.

March 6, 2008
Here are photos of three new pieces. I forget who sent me the photos.

January 28, 2008
I acquired this CIPSA button off of eBay this month. There are only a few buttons known.
No one knows how these were sold. Only three buttons are known, two for the Swingin' Wing and this Whip Creamer.

December 26, 2007
A collector in Mexico, Carlos Fernandez sent me these photos
of two CIPSA's he has in his collection.

This dark blue Bugeye looks almost identical to the one I own.

The gold chrome Swingin' Wing is also a previously known color.
November 10, 2007
A collector in Mexico who mostly collects Aurimat's, the blackwalls made in the 1980's, sent me some photos
of some CIPSA's he has in his collection.

This Pit Crew car is the only one known in black, if it is genuine.
The clear glass and interior color are correct for CIPSA.

The Sandwitch is known in yellow, the one stolen from me has the same characteristics.

The Sandwitch in red is the first one known in this color.
November 8, 2007
Two CIPSA redlines sold on eBay this week. The Rocket Bye Baby looks identical to the one I own.
The Seasider is known in mustard yellow. This one is in very poor condition.

November 7, 2007
Angel sent me this photo of this blue Peeping Bomb he has in his collection.
I am confident that it is a CIPSA car. The characteristics of the paint color
and condition, the headlights and tail light bar are all consistent with other known Peeping Bombs.

October 27, 2007
Angel sent me this photo of this Ferrari 312p he found last week!
I agree with Angel that it is a CIPSA car. Only two Ferrari 312P are known.

October 21, 2007
This green Cockney Cab sold on eBay this week.

October 17, 2007
I received this new Mighty Maverick today. Gracias Mi Amigo!
I now have examples of 21 different CIPSA castings of the 25 which are known.

October 4, 2007
A group of Mexicanos attended the Hot Wheels Convention in Garden Grove, California this week!
I was pleased to make the acquaintances of them while sharing our passion for CIPSA cars.
They brought along eight beautiful condition cars including Angels' brown SFT and all six of the famous Manzanilla Collection!

L to R: Juan Carlos, Carlos, Ed, Ted(me), Sid, Angel

The gathering of CIPSA Cars.

Angel and Sid make a Deal!

This is Ed's spectacular Barracuda, a sleeper eBay find earlier this year.
September 10, 2007
A Cockney Cab sold on eBay this week. In spite of its condition, it brought over $300.
In other news, the beautiful purple Mighty Maverick posted on January,22 has changed hands.

August 23, 2007
Four new CIPSA pieces have come to light in Mexico. The three on top were acquired by a CIPSA collector in the US.

The Jet Threat is the 2nd orange one known.
The Rocket Bye Baby is the 3rd black one known but is by far the best condition.
The Mercedes is only the 2nd piece of that casting known but it is missing the wheel and the entire car comes apart due to broken rivets.
This is one of the best condition dragsters known to exist. The dragster is still in Mexico as of today.
August 12, 2007
This is a photo of a the third known Sugar Caddy, all in red/magenta.
I have no information on its whereabouts.
August 8, 2007
Two more pieces in poor condition sold on eBay this week.

The Odd Job, although missing the motor and plastic parts is the only one known for sure.
The Cord is ...well it is what it is.
June 18, 2007
This Jet Threat in light blue sold on eBay this week. Although in poor condition, it features the chrome underlay type redline wheels.
June 13, 2007
Some other Superfine news this week.

I obtained the only known orange Superfine Turbine from its owner in Mexico.
I was very pleased as it is the only color I do not have in my collection of SFT's.

However, when I received it and inspected it closely, I noted a few anomalies which led me to suspect that it had been tampered with.
* The rear wheels do not turn freely and the front wheels are not collapsed.
* The motor appears to have been polished or painted.
* I noticed traces of glue between the motor and the body.
* The appearance of the rivet spins are different from any of my other CIPSA Superfines.
On the other hand, the base shows the trademark grind marks by the rear wheels and the interior is undoubtedly original.
Applying the Lenny Mankowski "Screwdriver Test" confirms that the car has been fraudulently reassembled.
I notified the seller and he contacted the person from which he obtained the car.
After some denials, that person admitted to having re-assembled the car.
He claims that it had fallen apart and he re-assembled it but did not repaint it.
I am not convinced that it has not been repainted.
Therefore, the credibility of the orange color for the CIPSA Superfine Turbine is ambiguous at best.
This is the first instance of forgery of a CIPSA redline. The value of CIPSA's is becoming well known in Mexico
so it is reasonable to expect more instances of this type of behavior.
May 25, 2007
Some Superfine news this week!

A collector in Mexico City, Angel has found a brown Superfine Turbine in excellent
condition. He posted the pictures of it on the Redlines Online Board.
Later in the same week, a fourth known orange/yellow
Superfine Turbine sold on eBay. The motor is missing and it has playwear. Even so, it drew many bidders.
May 1, 2007
This blue T42 sold on eBay today. It has a chunk of metal missing from one of the fenders.
As with most lesser condition pieces, it sold for less than $100.
This piece makes 130 known CIPSA cars.
April 29, 2007
At the Nationals event in Detroit, I saw Vito Mercorillo's CIPSA collection.
He graciously sold me the blue Snake Funny Car for my collection. All of the others are known pieces.

April 17, 2007
Alfonso sold these three cars on eBay today. The Swingin' Wing is the second one in chrome to surface.
The Hairy Hauler has a blue tint to the chrome. These are the only castings seen in chrome so far.
The Peeping Bomb is a new color.

April 2, 2007
This Chrome Swingin' Wing was seen at a gathering of friends in the DFW area.
It is the of the CIPSA castings seen in chrome so far.It is reputed to have a goldish tint.
It came from Mexico via eBay in 2006.
Swingin'Wing Photo to follow
January 27, 2007
!! QUATROS AMIGOS!!! Juan Miguel scores big time with a new color for the Superfine Turbine!
Such a Beauty, that car sings!! That car is my new Mexican Idol!

January 22, 2007
This stunning purple Maverick sold on eBay for a pittance. Great buy for Johnny!
January 15, 2007
This orange enamel Mighty Maverick sold on eBay this week. It is the only orange Maverick known.
January 12, 2007
Juan Miguel acquired this blue Seasider this week. It is the only blue Seasider so far.
January 4, 2007
I received this light blue Hiway Robber this week. It came from Alfonso via eBay.
November 13, 2006
I received these four pieces today. They will make a nice addition to my personal collection.

November 9,2006
I just realized that I never posted the pics of the new Rocket Bye Baby.

This is the third known CIPSA Rocket Bye Baby and the first in this color. I acquired it at the Garden Grove HWNL Convention.
Oddly it came from a collection found in Cleveland, Ohio. However,
I am confident it is CIPSA made due to the stark white interior and dark blue paint.

Some reliable sources have stated that they know of Shell promos with capped wheels but the white interior
and the different paint color convinvce me that this is a CIPSA made Rocket Bye Baby.
The interior on the light blue one is cream colored as compared to the CIPSA.
November 5,2006
I received some photos of some newly found CIPSA cars from a Mexican collector this week which show the first known CIPSA Sidekick.

The first CIPSA Sidekick, unfortuntely, this beautiful piece is suffering the cruel fate of being the first known CIPSA "crumbler".
See the Sidekick page for more photos.

The group also includes excellent examples of the Classic Cord, Cockney Cab, T42 and a Six Shooter.
November 4,2006
I have neglected to post these two new colors of the Jet Threat. Both photos are from Juan Miguel.

CIPSA Jet Threat in Light Blue

CIPSA Jet Treat in Orange!
November 3,2006
This Sugar Caddy sold on eBay this week. Unfortunately I got outbid (as usual).
Other than the missing hood, its pretty nice.

October 26,2006
Today I received photos of the childhood collection of a Mexican collector.
The collection includes CIPSA and Mattel made pieces.

The Manzanilla Collection
The funny cars are both in excellent condition. the rear Engine Snake has normal front wheels but CIPSA interior.
These next two pieces are in especially nice condition, perhaps the finest example of the Hairy Hauler known so far.

Fantastic example of the Hairy Hauler

Excellent example of the Mantis
October 4,2006
This is the first known CIPSA Swingin' Wing! Alfonso posted it for sale on eBay.
This casting is not listed in any of the CIPSA literature. What's next???
Alfonso also listed two Mongoose Funny Cars, a beater red Cord and two partial Six Shooters in red and green.
September 1,2006
This is a new color for the Sand Witch. The car was sold on eBay by Alfonso.

August 13,2006
These two Mighty Mavericks came from the Gorin Collection.

July 12,2006
This Hiway Robber came from the Gorin Collection.

It is interesting in that the wheels lack the red stripe but they are definitely CIPSA made wheels.
I saw a red Odd Job once with the same wheels.
Juan Miguel sent me this photo of two cars a friend of his found in Mexico.

The Mantis looks to be the same color etc. as the one Juan Miguel owns although it is in poor condition.
The other piece is the remains of a Hairy Hauler painted in the same orange color.

Another friend of Juan Miguel found a second Hairy Hauler in somewhat better condition.
So if these Hairy Haulers are CIPSA cars, they represent another casting that is not listed in any of the catalog information.
In other news, a poor condition blue Seasider sold on eBay. It was missing the motor and one of the back wheels.
June 19,2006
Only a few new CIPSA pieces have surfaced recently and all of them are in poor condition.
A few pieces from the Gorin collection have changed hands but I have no details on that.
These are the pieces which sold on eBay recently, a new color for the Snake Funny Car, a blue MBZ 280SL, a purple Mongoose, and another Cockney Cab.
April 5,2006
Another group of possible CIPSA cars are on eBay this week. Alfonso sure is lucky!
This looks to be the first bonafide CIPSA Rocket Bye Baby. Actually, it may be the second as a brown one was seen
a few years ago before anyone recognized what it was. The Seasider is a new color.
These two appear to have been disassembled and probably repainted.
These two are possible CIPSA cars. They appear to be in original condition. I cannot be certain that they are made by CIPSA.
April 3,2006
Sid posted this new color for the Superfine Turbine on the Redlines Online Site.
March 8,2006
Four possible CIPSA cars are on eBay this week; a Six Shooter, a T42, a Mighty Maverick and a Short Order.
The Six Shooter is a new color and is clearly a CIPSA made car.
The T42 is the second one in green to appear this year, also clearly a CIPSA made car.
The Mighty Maverick is the second one to appear, both in blue. The first sold on eBay back in May, 2005.
Both of them are missing the cowl behind the hood and have no spoiler.
Interestingly, the Mighty Maverick is not listed in any of the catalog information.
Based on the photos in the auction, the Short Order does not show any characteristics of a CIPSA made car.
The paint color, interiors color, etc are typical of a normal HK made car.
February 3,2006
Another new color for a CIPSA casting, the Mantis in green. Juan Miguel found the car at a
flea market over the weekend, which brings his CIPSA collection up to seven CIPSA cars.

CIPSA Mantis in Green
February 1,2006
I have two announcements today. First I am pleased to announce the publication of the CIPSA webpages en espaņol!.
For all of you monolingual gringos that means "in Spanish"!
All of the translations are provided by the gracious courtesy and efforts of Juan Miguel Alcantar. Gracias mi Amigo.
Segundo, I have received photos of three new CIPSA cars from Alfonso. Each one one is a new color for the casting.
Three new CIPSA Variations
January 21,2006
The first possible CIPSA Sugar Caddy appeared on eBay this week. It is accompanied by two others;
the Hiway Robber in light blue and another mustard colored Cockney Cab.

Possible First CIPSA Sugar Caddy
December 31,2005
Well, 2005 will not go out with a whimper...Juan Miguel scores again. He e-mailed me today with news that he traded for two cars:
a green Classic Cord and gold Porsche P917. The Cord is identical to the one sold by Antonio Lara. The P917 is a US casting in a color
not previously known. Congratulations to mi amigo Juan Miguel!

The Alcantar CIPSA Collection
December 19,2005
Today, Alfonso e-mailed me pics of a Hiway Robber which looks to be the first definitive CIPSA made Hiway Robber.
The coup de grace is the wheels. All four are the large "thru hole" style with the distinctive metallic red stripes.
It is a beauty. It has the sliding roof installed too.

The First CIPSA Hiway Robber
December 14,2005
I received photos of the light blue Mercedes and the yellow Ferrari 312P (see Nov 23) today from Al Rasmusson. Both of these appear
to be ordinary HK issued cars. I will post some photos in the respective sections of the website. I also received the Rocket Bye Baby
from Mexico, it appears to be a normal Shell promo version.
December 13,2005
I received the green Superfine Turbine in the mail today. It is a beauty. I have posted photos in the Superfine Turbine section.
Thanks again to Juan Miguel. I hope his daughter enjoys the new shoes and winter coat!
December 11,2005
I have been holding back on a rather important bit of news... I was contacted in mid November by a man from Guadalajara who had found four redlines
that he thought were CIPSA cars. He asked me to look at the photos and give him my opinion.

Needless to say, I was impressed! Three are definitely CIPSA, the Mantis is questionable.
New colors for the Superfine Turbine and Bugeye and another mustard yellow Six Shooter.
I am sending him a motor for that Six Shooter. It looks naked!
December 9,2005
The green Seasider sold the other day for $228. It turned out that the front spin was broken and the car had been glued.
I think that had a big impact on the selling price. Alfonso also listed a T42 in green which also had issues. It sold or $115 which I thought was cheap
inspite of the condition. If I had not been sleeping, I would have bid more.
December 2,2005
The Funny Car pair sold for under $250. The others all sold for under $20 each, probably due to the poor conditions and questionable origins.
However, another green Seasider came up today and it looks pretty nice.
November 23,2005
Another pair of Funny Cars are on eBay along with seven other redlines. In my opinion, none
of the other seven are clearly CIPSA cars but time will tell.
* Ferrari 312P in light yellow, dark interior
* Mercedes Benz 280SL in light blue with white undercoat, white interior
* Dune Daddy in dark blue, white interior
* Rocket Bye Baby in dark blue, although a listed CIPSA, this appears to be a Shell Promo.
* Strip Teaser in Shell darker green, Shell Promo
* Splittin Image in pink and foam green, Shell Promos
November 18,2005
One of the two Pit Crew Cars changed hands over eBay this week.
A Collector in Arizona acquired a remarkable stash of old store stock accessories.
He was selling them at Irvine. The only car in the bunch is sealed in a set and I think it was a McLaren.
October 9,2005
While at the Convetnion in Irvine, I learned that Jack Kaye's mustard colored CIPSA Cord went to a new home in Florida.
June 22,2005
Three more unknown CIPSA redlines were listed on eBay yesterday; blue Snake, blue Mongoose and a blue Cockney Cab.
That makes four different colors for the Cockney Cab!
In other news, a domestically owned CIPSA Rear Engine Snake was listed on eBay also.
June 21,2005
The CIPSA's sold in May have undoubtedly been delivered. I received the three that I bought and they all show some
differences from the normal HK made cars. (See the Whip Creamer, Peeping Bomb and Mongoose Funny Car pages).
I received photos of the green Whip Creamer which has the same differences as the blue one.
I also have received photos of the Ferrari 312P. It also shows subtle but distinct differences from its HK counterpart.
No information has been received on the others such as the enamels and the Cord.
May 23,2005
Whew, May has been a CIPSA debutante ball. More CIPSA redlines have shown up on eBay this month than ever before!
Three batches of cars were sold on eBay from two different Mexican sellers, one in early May and the other two batches in late May.
The highlight has to be the beautiful metal flake green Classic Cord with white interior and white top!.. WOW.
Another highlight was the red Seasider with the boat, a real beauty, also in great condition.
Both brought some big dollars bids.
The Cockney Cab and the Seasider are now known in three colors: Mustard, MF Red and MF green.
A new casting was also confirmed, the Carabo. Two were sold, both in mustard with white interiors.
Several Snake and Mongoose Funny cars sold, Snakes in MF blue and MF green and Mongooses in MF blue.
A number of other castings came up for sale which appear to be CIPSA produced.
These cars will need to be examined closely upon receipt to establish any unique characteristics.
The castings in question include:
* Mighty Maverick, blue
* Whip Creamer, blue and aqua
* Ferrari 312P, enamel red
* Hiway Robber, red and blue
A few other redlines sold from the same collection seem to be straight up US or HK production pieces.
* Custom Firebird, olive
* Funny Money, grey
* Moving Van, green
* Snake Rear Engine Dragster, yellow dark interior, normal wheels
